Unscripted Movement

What Do New Beginnings Feel Like?

I honestly have nothing to write about. Writing these blog posts is such a cerebral exercise, and it might be more evocative to dance and journal through movement.

Today I informally interviewed a senior living facility about their programming challenges, and last week I connected with my local Chamber of Commerce and started connecting with groups that might let me hold creative movement workshops in their space. It’s a time of new beginnings, and entering the space of creation in terms of the work that I do in my community!

Thus I will use creative movement to “journal” what new beginnings feel like, as well as what faith in the process looks like.

When I was moving to what new beginnings feel like, I was imagining a new being emerging from its sticky cocoon, or plants sprouting from the ground. As I moved to what faith in the process looks like, I imagined steps, and the way it feels to move through these steps, rhythmically and with momentum. The rhythm itself is easy to get lost into.

And then I explored moving to what faith in the process results in. A level of clarity, focus, and steadiness, an ability to look someone in the eye, knowing exactly why you’re here.
